Star Gazing: 250 years of the Chair of Astronomy at the University of Glasgow

This year marks the 250th anniversary of the Chair of Astronomy at the University of Glasgow. The first Professor was Alexander Wilson who held the post for 24 years from 1760 to 1784. This small exhibition traces his life and work and displays a number of objects associated with him, including his telescopes. Wilson is most famous for his work on sun spots. Admission free.

Hunter: Man:Medic and Collector Free exhibition telling the story of Dr William Hunter, the Scottish obstetrician, teacher, collector and founder of the Hunterian Museum ath the University of Glasgow.

A Healing Passion: Medicine in Glasgow, Past and Present Covering historical and contemporary aspects of medicine in Glasgow, this fascinating display explores major and lesser known figures in medicine, showcasing their achievements and their impact on our lives. Find out about Hunter's anatomical specimens, Lister's carbolic spray and the first X-rays and ultrasound machines.

Weird and Wonderful The Hunterian collections contain over a million objects and many are world famous. This display shows a small selection. Some tell fascinating stories; some are historically significant; some are puzzling; and some are bizarre.
